Helping someone bathe, dress and perform other personal activities can be difficult. Our certified caregivers are accomplished at making these daily tasks an easy, safe and comfortable experience for their patients.
Besides keeping your loved one clean, having a Competent Caregiving in-home caregiver to Bathe, Groom and Dress your loved one, has additional benefits. Bathing stimulates circulation in parts of the body. It also allows the caregiver the opportunity to observe the patients body to be aware of any changes, including rashes, bed sores, or any abnormalities. Lastly, Bathing allows the caregiver an opportunity to speak with the patient and maintain a dialogue.
Some different Bathing options, depending on a doctor’s recommendation and the needs of the patient, that the caregivers at Competent Caregiving can assist patients in, are:
- Complete Bed Bath – given when the patient is too weak to assist the caregiver
- Partial Bed Bath – given when a patient can help themselves a little but need the caregiver to reach certain areas
- Tub Bath – Patient is assisted in and out of the tub
- Shower – For a patient who is able to walk and needs little assistance. A shower chair is made available for patients who are unsteady or weak
The caregivers at Competent Caregiving will follow up the Bath with Grooming of hair and Shaving if necessary. Oral Care is also an important part of the Grooming process that the caregivers at Competent Caregiving can assist with.
Dressing and Redressing occurs daily so it is important that a patient that needs help with this process have someone to assist them in a proficient and comfortable way. The caregivers at Competent Caregiving are trained and experienced to make Dressing and Redressing run smoothly while respecting the patient’s privacy.
